Toufigh Darou was established in 1998 by investment from the Social Security Organization of Iran. From the beginning this company was assigned the task of devising and executing projects regarding chemical active pharmaceutical ingredients; designing active pharmaceutical ingredient factories including the building, starting up, management and supervising the execution and building of such establishments. With regards to this, through the utilization of the latest technology and cooperation of local and foreign consultants Toufigh Darou was able to build and start up various projects including a Para-aminophlin (PAP) project in Mashhad, Para-anitrochloro benzine (PNCB) in Tabriz, Corticosteroids in Atra Co., and poly vinyl perolydon (PVP) and N vinyl perolydon (NVP) in Sari. As per its prerogative after the building and starting up pf each of these projects they were spun off into independent companies and handed over. For example, in Mashhad Borhan Darou and in Sari Rahavard Tamin Chemical Company were entities that were built and started up and then sold by Toufigh Darou. The Para-antichloro benzene project was handed over to Color Pars Co. at the finishing stages of procurement of machinery since it was the opinion of the investors to do so. Another project executed by the company was a pharmaceutical peptide project executed in 2001 with the cooperation of one of the leading European companies in the field of biochemical technology. Furthermore, because of changes in the setup of the Social Security Organization of Iran and the formation of various holding companies, the stock of Toufighh Darou was transferred to Tamin Pharmaceutical Investment Company or TPICO holding. Toufigh Darou was placed in the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient manufacturing category in the organizational chart of TPICO. In 2003, the company was assigned with new prerogatives dealing with research and development and continued its operation as a research and engineering company. It bought Darou Pakhsh's research center and renovated it and proceeded with the task of research and development in active pharmaceutical ingredients. The company started manufacturing lines for pharmaceutical peptides and biological molecules. In the same year, with cooperation from Pharmaplan of Germany Toufigh Darou started a pharmaceutical engineering unit which was a result of the increasing demand of the pharmaceutical industry for pharma-manufacturing engineering consultants for the building and renovation of various manufacturing units that met GMP regulations and other current world standards.
